Studio 3
Accessibility information for Studio 3
Getting inside
As you come up the main entrance stairs, take the first door to your left, towards the toilets. Follow the corridor along and down one step - DSL have promised to provide a ramp but this will be a removable ramp not a permanent one. S3 will be the second door on your left. The studio is about 5cm higher in floor level than the corridor, and the angled threshold is quite steep.
Before entering you will be required to take off your shoes to access most of the floor area, as it is covered in specialist flooring. Please speak to us in advance if you think this might be an issue. There are no coat hooks inside the space, but there are plenty of railings/ballet barres all around, and we found that they work very well for hanging coats over.
The door directly to the left of S3 leads to a stairs which can be used to exit to the courtyard. DSL request that these are used for exit only, not entry. There are four steps leading down, a landing, and 13 more steps, with a handrail on the left.
Food and drink
There is no kitchenette within S3, but there is a kitchen shared with S5 directly across from S3 entrance. This contains a fridge, a sink, a kettle, mugs, plastic cups and bins. The kitchen is about 5cm higher in floor level than the corridor, and the angled threshold is quite steep.
Access for D/deaf, hard of hearing and sound sensitive people
We will update the information about noise pollution in the space after we have used it a few times.
Access for Blind, visually impaired and light-sensitive people
ROH – workshop events
The room is lit brightly with uncovered fluorescent lights. They do not tend to flicker, but we cannot guarantee that they are fully flicker free. One of the walls is lined with windows facing into the courtyard. There are no blinds on the windows - if this proves to be an issue we will raise it with DSL.
RopeSpace – play events
We typically turn off the overhead lights in favour of mood lighting provided by standing lamps and (many, many) fairy lights. If you have any concerns about this or might require additional lighting please message us at least a week before the event and we can discuss arrangements.
Other access information
We will update the information about temperature in the space and anything else which might be relevant after we have used it a few times.
