We are looking for more enthusiastic, proactive, and community-oriented advocates for Rope Office Hours. As part of our team, we’d like you to work with other crew members to uphold and nurture our values, goals, and intentions as a community and organization. You’ll share responsibility for crewing our events and making sure they run as smoothly as possible, modeling our values and beliefs, and working between events to manage and develop Rope Office Hours as a cooperative.
We are especially looking for people who want to support us with one or more of the following:
- Teaching beginner classes
- Teaching intermediate classes
- Administering our treasury and finances
- Handling legal administration
- Web design and upkeep
- Managing Social Media
- Producing visual content (photography, illustration, graphic design etc.)
- Consulting for equity, diversity and inclusion
- Teacher and talent outreach and vetting
- Helping prepare the space for events – including mats and refreshments
- Processing and treating rope for sale
We want to develop and retain a diverse and thriving rope community which reflects our society, and we can do this best if we have a diverse range of volunteers. We know there’s many nuanced factors which might affect how you can contribute, and we welcome your support regardless of physical, mental or time limitations. We particularly welcome applications from people who may have experienced personal or social barriers to their engagement with the community.
To get in touch about becoming a part of the team at Rope Office Hours, please send a short paragraph or video message briefly outlining why you are excited to join our community to ropeofficehours@gmail.com. In your message please also confirm that you have read and agree to the following documents.
After this, a member of the team will be in touch to arrange a short informal chat in a format that works for you. To keep our community safe, we’ll also need contact details for someone who can vouch for your compatibility with our values and aims. We don’t expect prior experience running events: they could be, for example, an established member of the kink community, a friend who has known you for a while or an event organiser. We’d prefer your reference to not be someone you’re dating.
Afterwards, we will review your application and get back to you as soon as possible. If we think we might be able to make use of your generous offer to donate time, we’ll get in touch and discuss details. If we can’t take you on, we’ll also let you know.
If any part of this process causes access challenges for you, please let us know and we’ll work with you to sort out alternative arrangements that suit you better.
